The Gao brothers work with and through many different artistic mediums including painting, sculpting, performance arts and photography. Their art has been gaining popularity both in China and abroad. Their work aims both at universal themes such as love and emotional communication as well as at themes which are more inclined towards the Chinese experience. This inclination toward domestic issues is more often than not characterized by a strong message concerning China's past and present legacy. They own a gallery named Beijing New Art Projects at Beijing's Da Shanzi art district (798 art district). They live and work in Beijing.
